FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is prosthodontics?
Prosthodontics focuses on restoring and replacing teeth — crowns, bridges, dentures, and implant restorations. The goal is to rebuild a smile that looks natural and works well, whether you are missing one tooth or many.
What are my options for replacing missing teeth?
The main choices are dental implants, fixed bridges, and removable dentures (including implant-supported dentures). Each has trade-offs in cost, longevity, and feel. We compare them honestly based on your mouth, health, and budget so you can choose with confidence.
Are dentures my only option if I’ve lost most of my teeth?
No. While dentures are a proven, affordable choice, implant-supported dentures and overdentures on four implants offer far more stability and help preserve jawbone. We will walk you through every option during your consultation.
How long do crowns, bridges, and dentures last?
With good care, crowns and bridges often last 10 to 15 years or more, and dentures typically need relining or replacement every several years as your gums change. Regular checkups help your restorations last and keep the surrounding teeth healthy.
Do you accept insurance for restorative work?
Yes — we accept most PPO and HMO plans as well as Denti-Cal and Medi-Cal, and many plans cover a portion of medically necessary restorations. We provide written estimates and offer financing to make treatment affordable.
